I am so excited to introduce a brand new resource that I hope will be a game-changer for you and your family. The Gather & Grow Family Daily Devotional Calendar includes simple prompts to get your family talking about Jesus and God’s Word in the midst of your very busy, daily lives.
Don’t let the word “daily” scare you. I get it. The thought of engaging kids in faith-building conversations every single day is daunting. It’s enough to get them ready for school, help them with their homework and talk about their day each night, not to mention chauffeur them around to all of the activities they have. Even though I’m providing a daily prompt, I’m not suggesting that you must use it every day. But by having a simple tool front and center in your home, you’ll develop a regular habit of opening the Bible and talking about matters of faith with your family.
It’s a start, right? When we think we MUST do a 30-60 minute devotion with our family every day, we inevitably fail and often give up. But if we redefine family devotions and find a simple way to fit it into our family culture, we’ll end up spending more time engaging in life-changing, faith-growing conversations.
Introducing the Family Devotional Calendar
Starting now, subscribers of Gather & Grow will receive a monthly devotional calendar with a simple theme and Bible verse for every weekday. Your Family Devotional Calendar (FDC) will arrive in your inbox on the last Wednesday of every month so you’ll be equipped and ready to go for the next month. The prompts will follow a seasonal, monthly theme that will be highlighted here on the blog. For example, in May we’ll be talking about CONNECTION (JOHN 15) in preparation for our Summer Family Devotional on the Fruit of the Spirit (which, I’ll let you in on a little secret, just might be another fun and free gift we give away soon!) Each week we’ll cover a different aspect of the theme and I’ll share some thoughts on the blog (on Tuesdays) to guide you through your conversations.
A few thoughts/ideas to help you get the most out of your Family Devotional Calendar (FDC):
- Keep the calendar near your kitchen table or somewhere near the hub of your home so it’s in plain view and easily accessible.
- Keep a Bible nearby (or you can use a Bible app on your phone) so you can quickly reference the daily verse. We love this Bible and also this one for reading the Word with kids. (affiliate links)
- Involve your kids by having one announce the theme and one read the Bible verse. Then discuss the verse by asking simple questions and exploring what God wants you to take away from it (you can use our 5 & Thrive Bible Study Method as a guide).
- Pray together and ask God to continue speaking to your hearts about the verse.
That’s it! It’s so simple. The whole process can take as little as 5-10 minutes at the breakfast or dinner table, at bedtime or in the car on the go.
This Family Devotional Calendar for families is the perfect tool to help you engage your kids in simple, faith-building conversations rooted in God’s Word. If you haven’t already, subscribe to Gather & Grow now to get immediate access your calendar!
I’d love to hear where and when you hope to use this tool? Will you use it at the dinner table, before bedtime or in the car? What other ideas do you have on how to incorporate this simple Bible study into your family life?
