You guys! I’m going to be 40 in 7 months. And I have to be honest, I am not afraid of entering my 40’s {I actually look forward to the next decade of life}. But I have felt the effects of this reality every time I look in the mirror, as of late.
After years of loss and the long-term adjustment to motherhood, I’m tired. And it shows on my face. Add to it the fact that I’m 100% Italian and one of an Italian woman’s guaranteed qualities is dark circles under her eyes and yeah. . .I’ve been preparing myself to look exhausted for the rest of my life.
But then last year I started to see countless before and after photos fly through my Facebook feed. And I met an amazing woman whose face always looked so smooth and radiant. She used and sold Rodan + Fields. I’ve never been good about sticking to a skincare routine so for a while I just watched and waited. I knew it would be an investment of time and money so I held off.
I told my friend for months I was going to try Rodan + Fields. She sweetly responded each time I mentioned it, “OK! Just let me know when you are ready.” She never pushed. She never pried. And then one day I decided to take the plunge. More and more women around me were using RF and getting amazing results. It was time to give it a try.

My beautiful friend Elizabeth! Look at her face. She barely wears any makeup now. Every time I see her she’s glowing. But see those shadows under my eyes? This pic was taken BEFORE I started my R+F journey.
I’m 7 months into my relationship with RF and I am very happy with my results. Good skin is not an overnight thing and I’m learning it’s not something I can address seasonally. If we want to age beautifully, we need to start early and be consistent with taking care of our skin.
Although the RF business is not something I feel is right for me in this season of my life, I’ve always been curious about how it works. How are all these women making so much money? Why doesn’t it seem like anyone is ever selling anything? Having a close friend in the business has answered these questions to an extent. It’s been so fun to watch her grow and thrive with this amazing company.
Maybe you’ve also seen those photos in your Facebook feed. Maybe you’ve been thinking about trying the products or exploring the business. If you’re curious about Rodan + Fields as a product and/or a business, I’m sharing a few truths I’ve learned. {I don’t sell Rodan + Fields so you know I’m being objective, but the girls I know that are in the business are as objective as they come, having first hand experience and success with the products.}
TRUTH: Rodan + Fields has regimens tailored to every skincare concern and a good consultant will help you determine the right mix and match for your unique needs.
Although my biggest skincare concern is my dark circles, my most immediate need was to get my PCOS induced breakouts under control. Although I don’t suffer from serious, ongoing acne, I was on medication to control monthly flares. Within weeks of starting the UMBLEMISH regimen, I was completely off the medication and my skin has been clear since. I still occasionally get a blemish but within a day it will disappear if I’m using my UNBLEMISH products consistently.
After we got that taken care of, I knew I needed more moisture and something to work on my dark circles plus prevent wrinkles and other signs of aging {which are inevitable when you are 40ish, right?!}. So Elizabeth recommended a mix of products {including the REDEFINE regimen} to meet all of my needs.

My before and after. I never get good face pics but this combo really shows the difference. I promise you, there is no filter, no retouch and no makeup on in the bottom photo.
TRUTH: Before and after pics are amazing but so many variables go into them. Don’t be discouraged when your results aren’t as dramatic. Good skin takes time and results should be as unique as the person sharing them.
Take my pics for instance. I truly believe that as we age, makeup starts to make us look older. Yes, I have some wrinkles and dark circles in the first pic. But they are accentuated by the makeup I was using to try and cover them up. A few months later, I don’t need the makeup to cover up because using Rodan + Fields has brightened my face and my eyes.
Some women will see results within weeks. This was not the case for me. It took months for me to begin to see a difference and I expect to continue to see a slow change over time.

I took this picture for the RF Go Naked Campaign. No makeup, no filter. And I posted it on social media. Not something I would have done a year ago for sure!
TRUTH: A skincare routine is just like a health or fitness routine. You get out of it what you put in and success is often based upon many factors.
Using RF alone may not bring about your desired results. But using it consistently along with eating healthy and drinking lots of water will maximize your results. Some days, my face looks as tired and worn as it did last year. And typically, it has something to do with how I’ve been eating along with my lack of hydration and sleep.
TRUTH: Not everyone is meant to sell Rodan + Fields but anyone can.
If you’ve wondered about the business but you don’t like direct sales or don’t think you would be good at it, I encourage you to explore it anyway. Many of my friends who have gotten into the business are growing and thriving quickly {and they aren’t your typical salesy people}. But if you decide to do it, go all in. The most successful people with RF are the ones working hard and smart. It’s not a casual, get rich quick scheme. It’s a legitimate business where hard-working, relational people see the financial benefits of their focused time.
So why am I not jumping into this amazing company myself? Because God has called me here to encourage and support moms like you. He’s opened doors for me to write and share my passion for families and faith. This is where I’m called to be in this season of life. But I’ll never say never. . .
This post isn’t sponsored. My friend didn’t pay me to write it. I simply wanted to support her and share about a product I’ve grown to love and trust. I’ve been so impressed by the culture of the Rodan + Fields company and the heart of its consultants. If you’re wondering what’s next for you. . .if you’re longing to find your thing and your people and make some money for your family, connect with an RF consultant in your network or email me if you’d like to be introduced to Elizabeth. She is one of the most incredibly encouraging, supportive leaders I know. She’s been in the business for 3 years {as of today, HAPPY BUSINESS BIRTHDAY!} and has quickly risen to the top, currently an Elite Level V consultant, which is the top 1% of the company! She is guiding her team toward amazing success. Let me connect you with her or find a woman like her in your life. They will inspire you to do great things!
THIS JUST IN!

Rodan + Fields announced today they have risen to become the #1 fastest growing skincare brand in the US over the past 5 years + the #1 premium anti-aging brand making them overall the #2 premium skincare line in the United States! Their growth rate is unprecedented which is why so many women are jumping on board this train.
Have you used Rodan + Fields? Have you joined this amazing company? Tell us your story in the comments!

which product did you use for your eyes ?
Consider yourself lucky that friend didn’t pressure to the point you wanted to rip out your hair. I had used R+F and had such a bad experience with my sales consultant I vowed never to use it again. This person was once upon a time my friend. But every…single….time we saw each other after she became a rep, she was pushing more product on me even after I told her I stopped using it because the routine took too long with three kids under 4 including a newborn. Yet she still pushed. Fast forward a year and she was STILL pushing even though I said spending hundreds of dollars on product I didn’t use was a waste of money and now wasn’t a good time for me.
Fast forward to the day my deaf daughter had surgery to restore her hearing….I had told my “friend” the day before the surgery that I was nervous that the surgery wasn’t going to work. She was one of the few people I had shared this with. And did she check in the next day to see if the surgery was successful? No. Instead she texted me to push more R+F product, added me to a Facebook group to discuss beauty products and sent me an R+F email blast, all in the same day as the surgery!!! The old friend, the pre-R+F friend would have checked in to see how the surgery went. It wouldn’t have slipped her mind because that friend was not preoccupied by her business, even when she was working in a corporate job.
Sorry-I don’t care how good the product is. It’s been my experience as well as others that R+F sales reps end up viewing their friends as a vehicle to make money and forget how to be good friends themselves.
I’m so very sorry you had this experience. I can definitely understand your frustration and hurt. I haven’t had this experience but I guess it all really depends on your consultant. Again, so sorry! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for this. I recently became a consultant after getting great results from the products. Would you mind if shared this? Thanks.
Tammy
Hi Tammy! Feel free to share. Thanks!
May I share this on my Facebook page?
Absolutely! Thanks Shelly!
Hi Tammy, are there any benefits to me buying from someone like you as opposed to me buying directly from the RF website?
Amy
Would you mind if I share this on my page?

Sure Bonnie. Feel free to share on FB!
Would you mind if I shared this on my personal page?
I sell Mary Kay. I joined Mary Kay because of their excellence in skincare and makeup. Their motto for ladies is faith first, family second, and career third. My skin has never been in better.
As someone who tried it, sold it, and no longer use it, my honest opinion is that after a year of using and selling the products, it’s just not for me. I think just like any product, you should try it and see if it works and the same goes for the business aspect of it. The products were too thick and some products my skin was too sensitive to handle. I could only use the Soothe line but that just wasn’t enough for me. The business was hard for me personally. You really have to put yourself out there and share the product with social media. But you have to find the line between spamming your business on social media versus sharing it on social media. Sometimes there’s drama in the your team. Girls or women can be “click’ish”. Just like any huge group of women, there’s always drama snobbery stupidy and whatever. So after researching other products and reviews and trying out other products I use other skin care products that best suit my skin type and works for me. I also buy from Sephora so I get points, can return no questions asked, and can buy at my leisure without having to auto purchase every 3 months like Rodan and Fields. But I believe in some of their products like Unblemish is really good for adult acne. So take what you want from my personal experience…. it’s good for some people, just not everyone.
Hi Jessica.
I am an R+F consultant in Ohio. Would you mind if I shared your blog post via my Facebook page? I love how open and honest you are in it. I love when I can offer my followers objective perspective from a real user of the products.
Thank you!
Tammy Howard
Absolutely Tammy. Share away!
Can you be successful as a R + F consultant if you’re more introverted, using the internet?
Absolutely, Kassa! I’m happy to fill you in!
I am a writer / blogger at Drinking the Whole Bottle and just recently started with Rodan + Fields too. I can’t wait to share this post with people!
I have a friend that sells R+F, but I am alway reluctant to try. She messages me with her sales pitch and her constant Facebook postings are a bit much. In my limited research, it seems the products could be priced more reasonable if less hands were involved in each sale. She gets a portion of my sale, plus the person above her…plus the person above her..plus the person above her…and so on. Plexus has the same business model and the products are just as expensive. If less layers were involved, a $229/month product might cost $49, but everyone has to make their portion of the sale.
When you look at the price point per item, the prices are very competitive with any other skin care line. I’ve spent much more when adding up all the items I’ve purchased at my local Kroger!
I understand where you are coming from here, but it’s just a simple misunderstanding. While it may seem that the generations of consultants are the reason for the price point, I believe if you research this a little further you will see they are the very reason that the prices are so low. Using a direct sales model eliminates the middle men i.e. marketing, distributors, retail markup… etc. These are dermatologist developed, not tested complete skincare routines that are also delivered to your door. Any dissatisfaction is completely refunded, so there’s also no risk of hopelessly sinking your money into something that you find doesn’t work- you get 60 days to come to that conclusion, not 7, not 30- you get 60.
The larger concern I have here is why it is more palatable to purchase from a large retail chain, who only profits those on the highest end of the pay scale, versus a friend. Why does it bother some to support a friend trying to better themself, or their financial situation? You’re not being sold air, your getting 4 to 5 full sized bottles per box designed to last 2 months – not 30 to 45 days like too many other companies sell. Break the cost up by two months, then by bottle. There is no $229 dollar-a-month regimen offered ever. Our top end regimen is $193 at retail price, but is even cheaper with our Preferred Customer program @ $174.. 174 ÷ 2 = $87 87÷4= $21 plus change.. per bottle. Considering time saved on not having to guess on what to buy, how to use it, or support with changing needs, or additional needs to address, I believe a customer comes out on the winning end.
My main issues is not only the cosy but the conduct of the person I know who is selling. I was asked in person straight to my face “So do you and your mom not take care of your skin or are you guys just too poor to buy anything from me?” I know most of my other family members were also guilted & pressured to buy other R&F products in a similar way to the guilt tactic you’re using now. Frankly I would rather buy from my friends who run Etsy and other types of shops MAKING something as opposed to getting harassed by someone in complete denial that “their business” profits two mutlimillionaries and who knows how many other execs/higher ups
I’m sorry to hear that this was your experience. The women I know who sell RF are amazing and I have never felt any pressure from them. I guess it depends on the person. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I became a consultant after the R+F Unblemish line was the first thing to control my face and back acne in 10 years! After 6 months of being a customer, I enrolled as a consultant so I could get a bigger discount. I had no intention to sell, but of course I was telling everyone about it! Then when I realized my friends and family wanted to try it, I turned on my website and starting sharing on social media. I’m so glad I did! I’m having a great time making money to wash my face and talk about it!
Thank you so much for supporting your friend on her journey! I am a new consultant and loved reading your perspective.
I love that I too have spoke to 5 dermatologists and multiple aestheticians, including one who I know well and one who has built her career in a medical spa and only heard praise about Rodan + Fields. Both aestheticians have yet to find a line that works as well as this. Not surprising, given the ingredients are very well researched standards in skincare. I also love how these doctors and consultants set the standard of having confidence in their products and never needing to talk negatively about other companies or brands. Doing so is simply not a representation of confidence in yourself or of professionalism. My skin has never looked better!
Amen Ann! Love R + F and no need to put down any other company…the results speak for themselves!
Most aestheticians do not sell over the counter products like the ones at beauty counters if they are working in the field. They tend to know more about products and had rather work with quality products well known in the skin field. Honestly, R&F does not have a good reputation among most aestheticians. I have spoken with three different Dermatologists in three areas of the nation and all three have been hesitant to speak and once they did, they said they would most definitely not recommend using the products. Think about it…sure, a dermatologist or two “formulated” it but you do not have to be a licensed, qualified esthetician or dermatologist to be required to sell it. That sends flags to someone that has lived a life of nothing but skin problems and has always had to purchase more potent medicine and creams from a doctor’s office. I’ve also seen the before and after photos and having an art background, I know all about photo alteration. So that plus the fact that sun damage requires certain chemicals and physical processes (think deep chemical processes and/or lasers) tells me that that product alone is misleading. For the price, I’ve seen a lot of people that did not have the money spend on product when they could have spent on effective laser or chemical treatments that would have been performed by a doctor or licensed esthetician (or nurse) rather than a product anyone could buy or sell. It just seems that for the money you spend there are so many more worthwhile ways to spend that amount of money. When you have done the studying and practicing and you truly understand the skin and processes, that’s when you should be directing people to what they need for their skin, not just someone that has decided to sell skincare.
I love Rodan and Fields! I am so excited to be a part of this great business!
Thanks for sharing. Beautiful results!
I’ve been an RF consultant for a year and a half and love it! I have an esthetician on my team who owns her own very successful spa. She loves the products and has seen such fabulous results that she uses them with her clients getting facials! She says they’ve never been happier with their glowing skin!!
Before I began this business I visited my dermatologist and and asked about The RF product line. My dermatologist said “Well, they have an excellent reputation and while I haven’t used the products it does seem that people are getting good results! I don’t have anything negative to say.”
I love that I’m able to help people love their skin and I love that I’m helping others achieve their dreams through this business!!
I am an RF Consultant and have been for 4 months now. I used to sell Estée Lauder, Clinique and Elizabeth Arden. I was pressured to meet goals etc. and with RF there’s not that person constantly hounding you. I also feel more confident in what I’m selling now which make it easier and I don’t have to push. I share. It’s wonderful to be able to work from home with my babies!
I know you don’t have parties to market it? Is it just sharing with friends?
And no you don’t HAVE to have parties! You have no quotas and no requirement–it’s all up to you what you want to do. I have just one party scheduled for myself, a highly recommended launch to your business. I’m doing it because I know it will help me as I am building my business. I’m having it in my home with my friends just to say I’m here! Everything else I’ve done up until this point has been via social media and text messaging. When you sign someone up you might spend a little time on the phone helping them. It really is that simple. Women buy things most often because their friends recommend them. It is true and R and F proves that. They do no marketing. Women (and men!) are spreading the word because they love it. And the proof is in the product. It really is. If you have questions, Anita, let me know how to reach you and I’d love to answer them, with absolutely no pressure. This was a phenomenal article by the way. I came across it on my team’s page. Loved reading it!
No quotas and no requirements? Not true. If you want people to be able to easily purchase from your personal website there’s a $20 a month fee and then you have to have a minimum of $100 in sales for the month for you to then begin earning your commission on everything else you sell. It’s something like a total of $600 in preferred customer sales, and you’ll especially want to sell that much each month if you want to keep any of your downline people and be able to make money from their sales.
Goodness! I hate it that you haven’t had good results, Kelsey. However, the information you have put up here is also incorrect. I hope you are able to get where you want to be with your skin. Blessings!
That’s odd….my esthetician loves that I’m using R&F. Now I only see her once in a while for a steam treatment
Kelsey – correction. To join as a Preferred Customer there is a ONE TIME join fee of $19.95 and a minimum of $80 of products every TWO MONTHS (60 day replenishment shipment which can be deferred as OFTEN as needed). And besides, I ALWAYS reimburse my Pcs when they sign up.. it’s my Thank You to them :o)
I’m sorry you were majorly misinformed.. oh have I mentioned that ALL RF products are 60 day empty bottle money back guarantee?
I sell Mary Kay. parties are optional. There is no pressure. Quotas are used to maintain discount status for wholesale only.
How much does it cost to get started as a distributor?
Anita, I’m a new consultant and I have to tell you it’s easier than you think. I LOVE it and would be happy to answer any questions you have. The company is great–and I’ll give it to you straight if you have more questions. They give you several options to get started. You can spend as little as $45 for a portfolio, and they have amazing business kits priced at a huge discount over retail so you can get started with products for yourself and that you can show people. They offer several kits few other price points, $995 being the highest. What you get in all of them is products you will use and be able to share about, and you can choose whatever you are comfortable starting with. And with anything they sell, even the business kits come with a 60 day money back guarantee. So you have nothing to lose! And you can get answers and investigate anything you want–R and F is very transparent and all the info you want is out there so you know what you are getting into.
How much did you get paid to write this? Or did you just get free products?
I am a licensed esthetician and I have yet to see someone in person who is using R+F and it has made their skin healthier. However, when my clients use R+F, they need to see me more often for professional treatments to fix what R+F has done to their skin.
So your esthetician license trumps Dr Rodan and Dr Fields, world renown dermatologists, knowledge on skin care? I doubt it. R+F has helped many people that I have seen first hand and made their skin much healthier.
That’s odd….my esthetician loves that I’m using R&F. Now I only see her once in a while for a steam treatment
I agree…..my face is now in need of an esthetician and a dermatologist thanks to me using rodan and fields for 5 months. Oh, and my wallet hurts too because I could’ve gone to both of those professionals for the cost of those rodan and fields products I used.
That’s odd….my esthetician loves that I’m using R&F. Now I only see her once in a while for a steam treatment
I have spoken to three dermatologists and as a licensed aesthetician they ALL say the same thing-R&F is not good for the skin. I have read all ingredients information and agree whole heartedly. Quality products with quality ingredients at an equal or less selling point can be purchased by a licensed, knowledgable person and they experience less problems. Period. I’ll trust 3 dermatologists over people with no license. That trumps my license too.
Why is it not good for the skin? Just saying so does not make it so. Plus there is never 100% success for anything for anybody. It could very well be the fault of the user.
Also, it’s not the consultants developing the products, it’s drs. If you think the ladies selling skincare at Nordstrom are drs and scientists, I’m pretty sure you are incorrect. The people selling R+F are selling, not developing the products. As well, I have been to many dermatologists, been put on antibiotics for acne, been treated with lasers and been sold skincare. I have never had the excellent results from those treatments that I have had with R + F. So, for me, I’m sold. I think everything varies for everyone. Just like all the product that is sold at department stores and Sephora, you just have to find something your skin loves—and tons of people have found that with R +F– I feel like they get a bad rap because it’s direct sales–but how is that any different for me as the consumer? if I’m buying, I’m buying, it doesn’t matter from whom.
In response to Nicole’s comment about not yet finding one person whose skin has improved using R + F, I find that extremely hard to believe. I’d be happy to show you my before and after photo’s anyday! As well as any number of people that I know and work with (I’m a nurse in a plastic surgeon’s office) I’d love to know what issues need to be “fixed” by an esthetician? Yes, there are the occasional skin issues that can occur from any OTC or prescription skin regimen however with a less than 1% return rate company wide…they must be doing something right. And to Kelsey, it’s unfortunate that you had as many issues after using the products. However, any and all of their products come with a 60 day empty bottle guarantee…it could have been as simple as contacting your R + F consultant with no questions asked for your full refund. Again with a less than 1% return rate, these Harvard trained dermatologists know a thing or two about skin care!
Dr Katie Rodan and Dr Kathy Fields are Stanford trained, not Harvard…minor correction but want to make sure we are keeping the facts straight.
Yes, I would be interested in knowing what needed “fixed” by an esthetician?
Both my esthetician and Dermatologic team noted the improvement in my skin just 3 months into using the products.
I happen to love Rodan + Fields, I’ve been using the products consistently for almost one year. I actually got started by the recommendation of my aesthetician, she uses the products herself, and on her clients, and is now consulting. I am so happy you wrote this. I do trust my aesthetician and what she reccomends, but I’m also that person who will do research on what I’m using, even if it’s a prescription from a doctors office. When Tracy first introduced the products and said what she was going to use on my skin I trusted her and it was a great experience, my skin felt very smooth, clean and clear afterwards. I was very happy. She spoke to me about the products and I took it all in, she gave me this little pamphlet she had made up and I went home and did my research. I didn’t buy anything at that point, I wanted to look into the products, and that’s exactly what I did. I researched the doctors, the brand and the specific products. Now here’s the thing, your aesthetician most likely gets paid for the products that she sells, Tracy was very upfront with me regarding her consulting now with Rodan + Fields, but, when I had first told her that I was using, at that time, Dermatologica, she had nothing bad to say about it. She didn’t try to persuade me to shift over to buying from her, she didn’t bad mouth the brand, I asked her what she was using and she told me, and explained who they were. It was after that I asked if she had more information on these products that she provided me with her pamphlet. I told her I was intrigued and wanted to look into it, she responded with of course, there’s my website, if you have any questions, you can always reach out to me. Simple! The next visit to Tracy, after I did my research, went to her website, and took the product tool, I told her I wanted to test drive the redefine regimen. We set up my account, after my facial, and I received my products within about a week. Did I see immediate results? Not entirely, it took a few weeks for me, but when I did notice results, it was more than subtle. I’m 38 years young, and a good skin care routine is something that is very important to me, so I follow my regimen consistently. I get my items shipped to me every sixty days but because I want them before I run out. You’re not obligated to have an auto shipment, you have full control of your items, when they ship, when you want to delay them, and if you want to add more or add less. Or, your consultant can manage your account for you, if you like. I like to have control, so I do it myself. The first thing that Tracy made clear to me was if I wasn’t happy, I could return my products, used or empty, within sixty days, and receive a full refund. I also get 10% off every order and free shipping. I am actually saving more than I was spending on my earlier products with Derm. Yes, I paid a one time fee of $19.95, but with the 10% off, and free shipping, it offset that fee plus. Now there’s no guarantee that this brand will be the right fit for you, they don’t guarantee 100% satisfaction, but they do guarantee that if you are not satisfied, you will get a full refund. That right there tells me more about the integrity of a brand than anything. So, if you’ve ever wanted to try these products, I urge you to do your research, and give it a try. If you’re happy with your current products, stick with it. My personal experience with Rodan + Fields has been a great one, but everyone is different.
Well said! Our money back guarantee speaks for itself. Wondering if some of these people with negative reactions bought from an actual consultant or if they purchased from an unscrupulous site. Our compliance department tries to negate those as much as possible. If you buy from any place other than an active consultants actual R+F website, you probably aren’t getting the real product and you won’t have the 60 empty bottle money back guarantee.
Thank you for sharing!!! We love happy customers!
I have been a Rodan + Fields consultant since January and was a loyal customer before that! Thank you so much for writing this! It’s so validating to hear good things from people who use and love the products, and who understand how great the brand is!
Didn’t know you have been doing it! I started last June and love it! I do Unblemish in the AM and Redefine in the PM. So great!
I loved reading this little blog! I have been using the products for 16 monthes and a excutive consultant- and have to say, I would use the products no matter what ! I believe in these products! I have no more break outs!
I have to agree! As one who simply uses the product and just turned 40…I absolutely love it!! Great review!!
I’ve been a consultant for over 4 years with Rodan + Fields and will be the first to tell you that I never dreamed I would be in a direct sales company. I never imagined I would be “selling skincare”. The products clearly transformed my skin though and that made me take a closer look at the opportunity. To say that owning my own R+F business has been one of the biggest gifts… one of the biggest blessings my family has ever received… well that would be a huge understatement. I appreciate your article as it really highlights what so many of us do every day. We just share with those who might be looking for what we have. If you’re not interested… no skin off my nose! There’s a whole continent of people to talk to, with expansions coming soon into Australia and then Asia. The face of business is changing, my friends… from corporate suits to smiling men and women working from wherever they choose to and setting their own hours. So thankful for this opportunity!
If you’ve done your research, you will find that R&F is considered Pharmaceutical grade. That is so much better than the Cosmeceutical grade that makes up the vast majority of even high level department store skin care. I had been using La Mer which is way more expensive than R&F and not seeing the results I wanted. R&F has made a huge difference in my skin elasticity, clarity, taking away age marks and small wrinkles not to mention wiping away enlarged pores. I’m an R&F user for life now!
Not slamming R+F, but there is a misunderstanding in your statement.
The FDA divides skincare into 2 categories: Pharmaceutical and cosmetic. A topical steroid or Retin-A is a “pharmaceutical”. A “pharmaceutical” needs to be tested thoroughly AND be approved by the FDA. A cosmetic does not. according to the FDA, cosmetics are” … articles intended to be rubbed, poured, sprinkled, or sprayed on, introduced into, or otherwise applied to the human body or any part thereof for cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness, or altering the appearance …” and that is what R+F is.
You may be confused that it R+F is a pharmaceutical because it cites scientific studies that validate the safety and efficacy of the ingredient formula, conduct clinical studies, or it is “dermatologist tested”. The term “cosmeceutical” is a term used in the skin care industry as an in between of the FDA defined categories and refers to products that have active ingredients that have been scientifically proven and documented to have a biological effect on the skin due to the active ingredient content.
Bottom Line: R+F is a cosmetic… that may be referred to as a cosmeceutical because of the ingredients it contains.
I wish you would praise Mary Kay too. I sell it and u aka God-fearing woman. I am a little hurt that you praise only one brand. I love Jesus very much and I would not sell something that is not good for you. I think there is a lot of negative spin on Mary Kay. That is why there are new skin care lines. MAry Kay is not perfect, but neither is Rodan Fields.
