It’s been nearly 365 days since I sent my oldest child into her very first, official classroom. A whole year since I let go of her hand and entrusted her to the care of another. Oh dear mama who is about to embark on the adventure of education, I understand your hesitation. . .your fears. . .the tiny bit of relief you are feeling because {if you have chosen school outside your home} you have one less child to take care of every minute of every day. Watching your child begin the journey of learning is so exciting and terrifying at the same time. And no matter what method of education we choose, there can be apprehension and confusion and an overwhelming fear that we won’t get it right.
Oh friend if I could sit with you over coffee I’d tell you it’s going to be okay. No really. . .it is. But since time and geography won’t allow us to get together for a “boo hoo breakfast” as it’s often called, I’ll simply leave you with these 5 truths that have gotten me through our first year.
There is courage, direction, wisdom, peace and joy to be found along the way as you guide your child into a life of learning. May these truths cover you with grace this year!
