Blessings Jar Teacher’s Gift Tutorial

12 May

Blessings Jar Tutorial

We’ve really enjoyed counting our blessings as a family this year since we introduced this regular practice during our Lenten journey. In thinking about what to get my kids’ teachers to show our appreciation of all they’ve poured into their lives this year, I decided to pay it forward and give them the gift of gratitude.

I created a simple and budget-friendly blessings jar for each of my son’s preschool teachers. I hope they enjoy this practice as much as we have. Sharing each night what we are thankful for and encouraging our kids {and ourselves} to think beyond the obvious has been a joy. I couldn’t think of a better gift than that to give our wonderful teachers.

After you have printed out everything you need. . .

Step 1: Trace inside of mason jar lid around blessings jar label. Cut out.

Step 2: Glue label to top, inside lid. Screw on jar.

Step 3: Cut ribbon to fit around body of jar. Glue middle of ribbon to front of jar.

Step 4: Glue ribbon, overlapping, on back of jar.

Step 5: Wrap twine around ribbon and tie tightly in back of jar. {Twine adds a cute element as well as covering any bumps or imperfections on ribbon from the glue.

Step 6: Cut scrapbooking paper in small rectangles with pinking shears. {I like to use pinking shears because they cover a multitude of crafting sins. Though regular scissors will work just fine.} Make sure rectangles are large enough to write a blessing on.

Step 7: Put rectangles in burlap sack. {If you do not have a burlap sack, you can punch holes in paper and hang them from the side of the jar using twine. This also looks super cute.}

Step 8: Cut out blessings jar tags and hang on side of jar with burlap sack using twine.

Blessings Jar Final White

I created a personalized tag for each teacher which you can easily do using the iPhone app from Rhonna Designs {so in love with this app, made all of these graphics using it ON MY PHONE!} I hung it on the side with the tag that includes the following verse:

I am so blessed to have a teacher as kind and smart as you.

I’m counting my blessings and thought you’d like to count your blessings too!

Blessings Jar Mother's Day Tag

NEW! Mother’s Day tag! If you’d like to use this craft for a classroom mother’s day gift, download the Blessings Jar Mother’s Day tag here. {includes space for kids to write their name}

 Blessings Jar Final Out

Seriously, y’all. . .this is such an easy craft. I am definitely not that crafty {I try, but truly it does not come easy to me} so if I can do this, you can too! For less than $10 per teacher, you can gift them with something cute, practical and meaningful!

What is your favorite gift to give your child’s teachers? We’d love your ideas as well!
