With 15 years of work in the Christian music industry, I’ve met some really amazing + talented people. It’s always fun to see who goes on to do what after a career in Christian music. Every once in a while I have the privilege of reconnecting with someone I worked with over the years, and I absolutely love stepping into their story.
As God would have it, he recently allowed me to cross paths with an incredible couple I had the joy of working with 10 years ago. With all the amazing Advent resources out there, it can feel like a lot of pressure to do something special. I’m here to tell you, it doesn’t have to be hard. All of these great resources are available to make it simple + meaningful. There’s no pressure friends. Try a few things and you’ll discover what works for your family. The important thing is to simply pause, gather together and do what you can to grow in faith.
How do you plan to celebrate Advent as a family?

We haven’t settled on an *exact* advent tradition that we repeat every year- still trying different ideas, and I’m ok with that. However, we always have a scripture/Bible story reading as part of it. This is the first year we’re using an “open the door eat a chocolate” style. I’m sure that’ll be a hit with my preschooler. We also pick a different Christmas book or movie each night to watch/read.
I would love access to this resource!! My 4 year old daughter is taking piano lessons, and any exposure we can have to music, especially ways to worship Jesus, is so necessary!
And I should read instructions better. This is first year that my son really understands what’s going on. (He is 3.5.) We have an Advent box from my mom’s church and we’re going to read through the Jesus Storybook Bible Advent schedule.
I went to school and sang in the choir with Dave & Jess! Excited about the work they’re doing for the kingdom!
