God promised Abraham he would be the father to many but he and his wife Sarah didn’t have any children. Sarah really wanted a child but she didn’t see how it could ever happen in her old age. Eventually, in his perfect timing, God allowed Sarah and Abraham to have a baby! They named him Isaac, which means, laughter. Sarah faithfully waited on God to give her what he had promised.

Rebekah
Read the story of Rebekah in a children’s Bible or Genesis 24.
Isaac grew up and Abraham wanted him to find a good wife. So Abraham sent his servant back to his own country to find a woman for Isaac to marry. The servant prayed and asked God to show him which girl he had chosen for Isaac. Rebekah was a beautiful woman with a generous spirit. When she offered the servant and his camels a drink of water, he knew she was the one. Rebekah blessed the man and also his animals. The servant knew this generous woman was the one God had chosen to be Isaac’s wife.
Power Verse:
You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives cheerfully. And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have plenty left over to share with others. 2 Corinthians 9:7-8 (NLT)
Power Questions:
- Why is it important to give more than is expected of us?

(She)ro:
Ruth
Read the story of Ruth in a children’s Bible or Ruth 1-4.
Naomi lived in Moab, far away from her hometown in Israel. Her husband and sons died and she was left alone except for her son’s wife, Ruth. Ruth was from Moab but when Naomi decided to return to her homeland, Ruth was determined to go with her. “Don’t ask me to leave you! Don’t beg me not to follow you! Every place you go, I will go. Every place you live, I will live. Your people will be my people. Your God will be my God.” (ICB) Ruth was faithful (loyal, firm, strong, present) to Naomi, even if it meant leaving her home place. Because of Ruth’s faithfulness, God provided big things for both Ruth and Naomi.
Power Verse:
So do not lose the courage that you had in the past. It has a great reward. You must hold on, so you can do what God wants and receive what he has promised. Hebrews 10:35-36 (ICB)

If it hadn’t been for Esther’s brave action, things might have gone very differently! Maybe God has something big he wants you to do to help others; right now, right where you are. . .
