A Simple Family Lent + Easter Devotional

27 Jan

If you are looking for The Scriptural Way of the Cross for Kids post we had here last year, you can find it over at Gather & Grow!

Growing up, my family didn’t observe Lent or Advent. Then recently, for a season of our lives, our family attended a church that celebrated Christian liturgy. I came to greatly appreciate traditionalism in the walk of faith; the beauty and rhythm of the church calendar.

I have enjoyed guiding our family through the season of Advent with Bible stories from Creation to Christ’s birth (click here to find out more). When we completed our walk through the scriptures for the Christmas season, I wanted to keep going; to continue sharing the Story with our children and help them find their place within it.

The season of Lent picks up where the Christmas story left off, moving through the life of Christ and toward the cross. While Lent has traditionally included the sacrifice of something dear as a form of repentance, the observance of Lent can be the addition or subtraction of something in your life to enhance your spiritual journey and further focus you on Christ during the Easter season.

Have you been wondering what Lent is all about? Have you thought about guiding your family through this sacred season as a way to prepare your hearts for Easter?

Introducing the Gather & Grow Family Lent + Easter Season Devotional

Whether you’ve observed Lent before or not, this devotional will guide your family through simple and life-changing conversations about God’s love for us and what it means to follow Jesus. Through six, simple lessons (which follow our 5 & Thrive Bible study method), you can lead your children toward the cross – whether they are 3 or 13!

I pray any time you spend together in the Word this season would renew your own faith as you engage in wonderful faith-building conversation as a family.

Does your family observe Lent? What traditions or practices will you follow this year as you prepare your hearts to celebrate Easter?

I love this idea of helping to explain the Lent season to our children. I am already a subscriber – am I still able to get this freebie?

I love this! I’ve been looking for more resources lately that go beyond just the facts of the accounts of the Bible to the why in ways that my 4 year old can understand. Thank you so much for sharing!
